| Avalon Place, Trinity Gave Me My Independence |
| |
| Mr. Carl Farnsworth came to Avalon Place after a long struggle that began with a
stroke in December 2007. Carl had not been able to walk for over a year due to the stoke leaving
him paralyzed on his left side. He was on the floor in his home for over 40 hours in Utah before
anyone found him. |
| |
| His daughter, Laurie, brought him home to Trinity and moved in with him. She began
working with him, working with home health and physical therapy. He did improve, however; he still was
unable to live independently and walking was not happening. |
| |
| After a hospital stay at ETMC Trinity due to falls; Carl came to Avalon Place for rehab
under Medicare. He received intense physical therapy and occupational therapy. Tri-star therapy houses
in Avalon Place and has been very successful in getting residents up to independent living. |
| |
| Within 100 days?Carl went home?walking! He lives alone now. He is able to get up, get dressed,
bathe?go fishing?independently! His daughter still comes by each day; but she is amazed at how well he is doing.
Recently, she took him to Dr. Cole?s office, just so he could walk in. His doctor had only seen him in the bed!
What a testimony! |
| |
| Carl says, "I?m glad I went to Avalon. It is a great program!" |
| |
| Laurie says, "I?m excited about his independence. He loves to go fishing and we take his great
grandson down to the pier?he would not have been able to do that without Avalon?s help!" |

| "Thank you for all the love and care you provided Mom. It is rare to find a group
of professionals as dedicated to their job." |

| "We are so grateful and thankful for the chance to have her [our loved one] in your care
and part of your community. We love the care she is given. It is such a huge burden lifted off of our
shoulders. We can never thank you enough. We feel like everyone at your home are true angels. The room and
dining area were clean and the staff was helpful and seemed to identify with the residents needs. My sister
reports to me frequently how the nurses are most responsible in keeping her informed as to mother?s welfare.
It?s most encouraging and comforting to have my mother in a place such as yours." |
