Each March, for Women’s History Month, Cherokee County Women with Purpose recognizes local ladies for their personal or professional achievements, as well as their contributions to the community.
Lauren Carter, a Jacksonville native, has been the marketing director at Legacy Nursing Home since 2015. Her career allows her to assist families in locating placement for their loved ones, during what could be a stressful time, something for which she is proud. She also markets Legacy, assisting individuals coming out of the hospital to access short-term therapy rehabilitation services in the skilled nursing facility.
“It so rewarding to see someone go home after a successful rehab stay,” Carter said.

Ro’Chaftney “Peaches” Bush serves as activity director at Legacy Nursing Home. Part of her responsibilities as the activity director include coordinating local Veteran’s Day celebrations and organizing drives to gather personal items for nursing home residents, such as socks.
“I am honored to provide joy to our residents every day,” Bush said. “I take pride in creating unique activities to brighten someone else’s day.”
She also works with Mayor Randy Gorham to recognize “Nursing Home Week” in Jacksonville.
“It is important to be involved in the community and to be able to recognize women for their achievements and goals,” Bush said of her involvement with CCWP. “Our community is made up of so many hard working women who deserve to be honored and appreciated.”
